James Mathis

James Edward Mathis, age 78 of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas passed away November 7, 2016 at his home. Born February 13, 1938 in Marvel, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Jim and Rose Copeland Mathis. Mr. Mathis proudly served his country in the Special Forces in the United States Army and enjoyed spending time with his family.He is survived by his wife: Maria Mathis of the home; five children: Mike Mathis and wife Carrie of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Steven Mathis of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Glen Mathis and wife Kathy of Athens, Arkansas, Belinda Bryant and husband Harry of Sheridan, Arkansas and Karen King and husband Billy of Bentonville, Arkansas; one brother: Randolph Mathis and wife Frances of Batesville, Arkansas. Mr. Mathis also leaves eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Marvin Mathis and an infant sister. The family has requested a private service and disposition under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas.
