Mary Smotherman

Mrs. Mary Louise Swain-Smotherman, age 68, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away on November 7, 2016 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Arkansas. Born February 5, 1948 in Kennett, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Florene Doherty Swain. She played high school basketball for the Senath High School from 1963-1965 and enjoyed reading, watching movies and loved spending time with her family and her furbaby Missy. She is survived by two sons: Larry Gramling and wife Sabrina of Paragould, Arkansas and Kyle Gramling of Paragould, Arkansas; one daughter: Kim Rannals of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two brothers: Darell “Baldy” Swain of Senath, Missouri and Terry Swain of Louisiana and; two sisters: Jerris Merideth of Cardwell, Missouri and Diane Joyner of Louisiana; five grandchildren: Katey Cleveland, Baleigh Williams, Tiffany Gramling, Heather Gramling and Austin Gramling. Mrs. Smotherman also leaves five great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Teresa Gramling; one brother: Jerry Doherty and one sister: Peggy George. Memorial services will be Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Walcott Baptist Church, in Walcott, Arkansas.

    I am so very sorry about Mary passing! We went to school together for many years and played together after school. She was a dear friend and I miss her. We remained close after we both married and our husbands became friends. We lost touch several years ago but she was frequently thought of. Sleep with the angels my friend!!!
