Jackie Pery

Mr. Jackie D Pery, a lifelong Steele area resident, died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, after a brief illness at the age of 78. Born June 20, 1937 in Caruthersville, Missouri, he was the son of the late James William Pery and Clodeth Elizabeth Guess Pery. Mr. Pery was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hayti, Missouri and served his country in the United States National Guard, was a farmer and custom harvester for many years. He also was the owner of Pery Auto Sales and in recent years was a car dealer. He was a past president of the Steele Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow and past president of the Steele JC’S. Mr. Pery was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, and water-sports and he even raced stock-cars in his younger years. He also enjoyed collecting antique cars. Survivors include his devoted wife Alice Pery of Steele, Missouri; one daughter: Vanessa Pery of Steele, Missouri; one granddaughter: Allyson Brown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one uncle: Harold Pery of Caruthersville, Missouri; six brother-in-laws, six-sister-in-laws and a host of cousins, extended family and many friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pery was preceded in death by one daughter: Cindy Brown; one step-daughter: Kasey Kelsey; and one grandson: Jason Jarred. Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 2:00pm at the John German Funeral Home in Steele, Missouri with Bro. Doug Wahls officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, Missouri. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 until 2:00pm at the John German Funeral Chapel. Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas is in charge of arrangements.
