Betty Inez Holmes Wess

Betty Inez Holmes Wess, 70, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, May 11 at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Ray and Marguerite Sullivan Holmes on July 13, 1943. Betty graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1961 and completed her BA in Early Childhood Special Education from Arkansas State University in 1991. She is survived by her husband Lafarrel Wess, daughter Shannon Wess, son-in-law Hassan Mazouz, granddaughter Maisa Mazouz, and sister Dorothy Beckner, all of Harrisburg; son James Thomas “J.T.” Wess and his fiancé Taylor Williamson of Springdale; a sister Diane Thomas-Plunk of Southaven, MS; and a large, loving extended family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Martha Holmes of Trumann; and sister, Rita Johnson of Springdale. A visitation will be held Friday evening at the First Baptist Church in Harrisburg from 4-6 p.m., and a memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. Private interment of ashes will be at Harrisburg Memorial Park cemetery.
