Valine Hopkins

Mrs. Valine Hopkins, age 91 of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away on March 29, 2016 at the Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehab Center. Born on July 14, 1924 in Hunter, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Christine Seel Hogland. She was a member of the Christian Church and became a devoted member of that faith. She was a business woman operating numerous restaurants in Jonesboro, known as Valine’s Café. After selling her restaurants, she enjoyed fishing and bought a Marina and Camp Grounds on Mellwood Old River Lake at Mellwood, Arkansas and operated this business for several years visiting and fishing with family and friends. After retirement, Mrs. Hopkins spent much of her time at home watching her favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves. She is survived by one son: Leonard “Filbert” Pickle of Weiner, Arkansas; one half brother: Richard Finch of Hardy, Arkansas. Mrs. Hopkins also leaves seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hopkins was preceded in death by her husband: Jim Hopkins and two sons: Paul Pickle and Robert Pickle. Graveside services will be March 31, 2016 a 10:00am at the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jim Roberts officiating. Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Amy Newberry, Franklin Pickle, Bobby Pickle, Eric Pickle, Jimmy Paul Pickle and Chad Pickle. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Otwell Christian Church in Otwell, Arkansas
