John Kisner

Mr. John Rufus Kisner, age 84 of Black Oak, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at his home. Born November 11, 1931 in Leachville, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Noah Hampton and Virgie Allen Kisner and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Kisner was married to Myrna Armstrong on December 13, 1952 and was an active member and elder of the Black Oak Church of Christ. Mr. Kisner proudly served his country for twenty years, before retiring, in the United States Army as a combat veteran and tank commander, in which he received two purple hearts, two bronze stars and two silver stars serving in the Vietnam War and the Korean conflict. After he retired from the military, he worked as a mechanic and a truck driver. Mr. Kisner was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting, fishing and was very devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years: Myrna Kisner; two brothers and one sister. He is survived by one son: Randy Kisner of Black Oak, Arkansas; four daughters: Patricia Morgan (Roger) of Rineyville, Kentucky, Deborah Foster (Gary) Brookland, Arkansas, Terry Sutton (Larry) of Luxora, Arkansas and Tracey Moon (Wade) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two brothers: Eric Kisner of Arbyrd, Missouri and Charles Kisner of Little Rock, Arkansas; four sisters: Penny Johnson of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Charlotte Marlow of Indianapolis, Indiana, Virginia Austin of Little Rock, Arkansas and Imogene Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Kisner also leaves eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be 12:00pm, Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Black Oak Church of Christ with Mr. Tim Bassing and Mr. Chub Qualls officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas. The family will receive visitors Monday, June 27, 2016 from 10:00am until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Johnny Morgan, Brandon Foster, Adam Foster, Joshua Morgan, Wesley Hawkins, Christopher Hawkins and Ethan Moon. In lieu of flowers, the family request any memorials be made to the Paragould Children’s Home.
