Earl Edmonds

Mr. Earl Edmonds, age 93 of Grubbs, Arkansas, went home to the Lord on June 27, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Born July 13, 1922 in Augdon, Texas, he was the son of the late Robert Henry and Mary Elizabeth Thrasher Edmonds. Mr. Edmonds had a strong Christian faith and loved witnessing for the Lord. Mr. Edmonds served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 43 years; Velma Edmonds of the home: three sons: Bill Shelton of Jonesboro, Arkansas, David Shelton of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Kevin Shelton and wife Valerie of Houston, Texas; three daughters: Tayna Donnell and husband Tom of California; Shauna Austin and husband John of California, and Tonia Shelton-Stromburg of Minnesota. Mr. Edmonds also leaves eighteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers (twin brothers) Merle Edmonds and Perry Edmonds and Jack Edmonds; sisters: Mildred Dyar, Estelle Mathews; one half-brother: George Edmonds: two half-sisters: Johnnie Mae Edmonds and Alice Edmonds.Funeral services and disposition will be June 29, 2016 at the Birdeye Veteran’s Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas with military honors. A memorial service will be held July 10, 2016 at 5:30pm at the Ballew’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Grubbs, Arkansas. Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas is in charge of arrangements. .
