I just found Sam recently at the Nursing Home while visiting a relative. I had worked with Sam many years ago at KDRS and had lost touch. All of a sudden, there he was...still one of a kind! We had the nicest visit and shared some fun memories. He had a plaque that had a phrase he had written...the thought really touched me and tears came quickly. We hugged and I left. I saw him again a few days later at the front entrance..we hugged again and he told me he wanted me to have the plaque...and followed that with "it might be worth 50 cents when he is gone...we laughed again. That was the last time I saw him. He mentioned to my niece that I had not been back to get it. My regret is that I'm afraid he thought that I didn't want it!...So, SAM...if you read this...YES...I did want that plaque but you left too soon! There's no doubt in my mind that you are busy and entertaining every day! GET READY ... HERE comes SAM!!!

I met Sam in the summer of 2012 when I was working as Activities Director at St. Elizabeth's place. Of course I remember watching him on KAIT when I was a kid. I enjoyed listening to him tell me stories and talk about screenplays and films. He had some very interesting visitors and was a lot of fun. He liked it that my name was Sam too! May he rest in peace. Prayers for all the family.

My condolences and prayers to the family, especially to Terry Wood. Today KAIT8 has a wonderful tribute to Sam, whom I remember well on the program. The tribute also indicated he was more or less a 'bulldog' at getting all the details of a story and did that job very well... It also mentioned his ministry to others, even after becoming wheelchair-bound. I really admire that, even though I didn't know him personally. His ministry will continue, even though he's now in God's arms. I feel certain He told Sam something to the effect of, "Well done, My good and faithful servant." He's no longer in pain, and you'll have SO many memories to share. Continued prayers to all of you... Monda Hutchison, Black Oak
