Willie Mayfield

Mr. Willie Franklin Mayfield, 88, of Weiner, Arkansas passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Medical Hospital, Jonesboro, Arkansas. Mr. Mayfield was born on June 14, 1926 in Weiner, Arkansas to the late James and Bertha Mayfield. Mr. Mayfield served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He was a retired diesel mechanic working for several years at Downing Harvester Equipment in Weiner and he worked 20+ years for McDonald Equipment Company in Newport. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Weiner, an avid deer hunter, enjoyed fishing, yard work, just tinkering with projects, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include; his wife of 60 years: Gladys Mayfield of the home; two sons: Danny Mayfield of Weiner, Arkansas and Troy Mayfield of Hoxie, Arkansas; one daughter: Angela Mayfield Glenn and husband Bill of Fisher, Arkansas; one brother: Leonard Mayfield of Memphis, Tennessee; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Mr. Mayfield was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Weiner Church of Christ with Mr. Alvis Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Weiner, Arkansas under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors on Monday at the church from 12:00 noon until service time.
