Billy Hopkins

Mr. Billy Hopkins, 78, of Wappapello, Missouri, died on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Southeast Health Center, Dexter, Missouri. Mr. Hopkins was born on September 24, 1935 in Black Oak, Arkansas to the late George and Maude Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a member of the First Assembly of God in Portageville, Missouri and worked in law enforcement for 38 years as a Deputy in Pemiscot and Wayne Counties and as Chief Investigator in New Madrid County. He enjoyed helping others, fishing, mechanic work, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include; his wife: Dessie Hopkins of the home; three sons: Billy Wayne Hopkins and wife Sonja of Caruthersville, Missouri, Michael Anthony Hopkins and wife Laura of Wardell, Missouri, and Joshua Earl Hopkins of Wappapello, Missouri; three daughters: Phyllis Bradley and husband Jimmy of Portageville, Missouri, Jackie Johnson and finance` Michael Forrester of Portageville, Missouri, and Ashley Hopkins of Ola, Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; George Hopkins, Teddy Hopkins, Alonza Hopkins, Junior Hopkins, and Leonard Hopkins; and three sisters: Glenda Redden, Ora Elam, and Dora Hopkins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 11:00 am at the First Assembly of God in Portageville, Missouri with Rev. Eugene Poole officiating. Interment will follow at Portageville Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the church from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Pallbearers: New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department. Honorary Pallbearers: Jake Rone and Ronnie Adams.
