Dr. James Lloyd Shaneyfelt

Dr. James Lloyd Shaneyfelt, 81, of Kennett, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at NHC Healthcare, Kennett, Missouri. Dr. Shaneyfelt was born on December 28, 1932 in Leachville, Arkansas to the late Eugene and Pauline Edwards Shaneyfelt. Dr. Shaneyfelt graduated Osceola, Arkansas High School, was an Army Veteran with a discharge rank of Second Lieutenant. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas, graduated the School of Denistry from the University of Tennessee, moved to Kennett, Missouri where he raised his family and practiced dentistry for nearly 45 years and was very active in his community where he was President of Methodist’s Men’s Club, served as a substitute teacher, and member of Lions Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kennett, Missouri and Hargraves Corner, Arkansas, he loved ice cream, fishing, traveling, reading, yard work, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include: his wife: Joy Shaneyfelt of Kennett, Missouri; one son: Bill Shaneyfelt and wife Pam of Bartlett, Tennessee; three daughters: Debbie Shaneyfelt of Sikeston, Missouri, Jan McDaniel and husband Joe of Kennett, Missouri, and Jamie Hargrave of Kennett, Missouri; one sister: Barbara Satterfield and husband Bick of Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister-in-law: Liz Shaneyfelt of Manila, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Dr. Shaneyfelt was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; Eugene Shaneyfelt, M.D.; one aunt: Georgia Shaneyfelt. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, Kennett, Missouri with the Rev. Freddie Barker officiating. Interment will follow at the State Veterans Cemetery, Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The family suggest lasting memorials to the Dunklin County Alzheimer’s Association.
