Michael Willis Thompson
January 3, 1955 - February 14, 2019

Michael Willis Thompson, 64, of Paragould, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Place. He was born on January 3, 1955 in Paragould, Arkansas to Roy Francis and Agnes Omega Nooner Thompson. Mike was a youth baseball coach for 30 years and known as “Coach Mike” by many. He had the opportunity to coach in Hawaii with People to People Sports and won 1st place, an accomplishment he was proud of. He enjoyed few things in life other than baseball but he did enjoy going “antiquing”, working on bikes, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a huge Kentucky basketball fan and loved to “trash talk” with his grandsons about it. Survivors include; his wife of 47 years: Darlene Thompson of Paragould, Arkansas; one son: Michael R. Thompson (Amy) of Steele, Missouri; one daughter: Dana Butler (Josh) of Paragould, Arkansas; five grandchildren: Lexi Butler, Zane Butler, Zeke Butler, Ashton Thompson, and Allison Thompson; one brother: Lanny Thompson (Glenda); two sisters: Tonya Wray (Tom) and Beverly Clark; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by; his parents: Roy and Omega Thompson, Sr.; one brother: Roy F. Thompson, Jr.; several half-brothers; and one half-sister. Funeral services will be held at Brown’s Chapel Church on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. with Bro. Royce Boling officiating. Burial will follow at Brown’s Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
