Shirley Ann Martin

Shirley Ann Martin, 73, of Caraway, Arkansas, passed away on March 10, 2017, at 7:33 a.m. at NEA Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Shirley was born in Manila, Arkansas, on November 30, 1943. She moved to Florida at a young age where she remained until she married her husband, Veon Martin, in 1958. At that time, they made their home in Caraway, Arkansas, where she has remained. Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church of Caraway. She retired from American Greetings as a production specialist after 35 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and working in her flower gardens, especially with her roses. Shirley is survived by her husband of 59 years, Veon Martin, of the home; one daughter, Janet Martin-Snelling (Gordon Snelling) of Caraway, Arkansas; two grandsons, Nathan Turner, of Caraway, Arkansas and Brad Turner, of New Jersey; one granddaughter, Kelly Simon, of California; two great-grandchildren, Bradley Turner and Shaylee Turner, of New Jersey; one brother, Jerry Simpson, of Monette, Arkansas; two sisters, Venile Gates and Karen Chandler, of Tennessee; two sister-in-laws, Mildred Sellers (Jim Sellers), of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Patricia Humes, of Caraway, Arkansas; three brother-in-laws, Paul (Von) Martin, of Caraway, Arkansas, Carl Martin, of Tyronza, Arkansas, and Bobby Martin of Leachville, Arkansas; and a multitude of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarance and Lydia Simpson, and one brother, Jimmy Wilkins.Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Caraway, Arkansas, with Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in the Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Honored to serve as pallbearers: Asa Boatman, Johnny Boatman, Nathan Turner, Gordon Snelling, Rob Marshall, and Jeff Martin.
