Virginia Lee Tarver

Mrs. Virginia Lee Tarver, age 83 of Kennett, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the St. Louis University Hospital. Born May 24, 1932 in Clinton, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ada Foster McClanahan and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Tarver was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kennett, Missouri and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was also a scout leader, in the bridge club, Kennett Garden Club and helped her husband Dr. Quinton Tarver in his medical clinic as a receptionist. Mrs. Tarver also enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by one son: Roger Tarver and wife Pam of Wardell, Missouri; four daughters: Cynthia Keating and husband Steve of Steele, Missouri, Pamela Smith and husband Porter of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Angela Holland and husband Gary of Maryville, Illinois and Carlotta Winands and husband Chris of Camarillo, California. Mrs. Tarver also leaves seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Dr. Quinton Tarver; one son: Larry Donald Tarver, three brothers and four sisters.Funeral services will be 3:00pm Monday, February 22, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kennett, Missouri with Rev. Missy Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett, Missouri with Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas in charge of arrangements. The family will receive visitors from 1:00pm until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Ryan Brooks, Charles Brenke, Joshua Tarver, Brock Tarver, Scott Smith and Ty Hendershot. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the First Presbyterian Church of Kennett, Missouri. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made the MS society of a charity of choice.

    Virginia was my aunt, my mother, Beulah Jane McClanahan Honeycutt, was her half sister I wish I could have spent more time with her, Ruby and their mother, Ada. My precious Aunt Marie McClanahan made sure that my brother, sister and I got to meet them at a family reunion. Wishing God's Blessings for your family.

    I was Alvis McClanahans daughter and Aunt Virgins was my favorite Aunt. After my Dad passed away I lost contact it sad to find family this way. I love you Aunt Virgins
