Bobby Lee Pope

Mr. Bobby Lee Pope, age 81 years and 10 months, departed this life at his home in Bono, Arkansas on December 29, 2017 following a brief illness. Mr. Pope was born February 9, 1936 in Bono, Arkansas to John Lee and Geneva Ingram Pope. Bobby was a man who’s life wasn’t marked by the date of his birth, 1936 or the date of his death, 2017 but by the dash in between those dates. It’s the love that he spread through his life that he shared with his family, friends, and people that he worked with or those that he came into contact with throughout his life. He was past President and General Manager of Jonesboro Grocery Company until September 1, 1995. He was a hard working man who started to work there in 1958 loading trucks and working his way through sales and finally to leading the company. He was the founder and owner of Bobs Bail Bonds. He had a heart for helping others, and Always put others before himself. He was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and friend. He married the love of his life, Sunshine Ferguson on September 24, 1955 Bob loved hunting, fishing, Arkansas Razorbacks, CB radio and travel. Together he and his lovely wife spent time together traveling throughout the U.S.He was a member of Oak Hill General Baptist Church in Sedgwick, Arkansas. He is Survived by his wife, Sunshine Pope of the home, sons: Kelly (Becky) Pope of Jonesboro; Kerry (Marcia) Pope of Bono; daughters: Lisa Hurd and Lori (Perry) Winn of Bono; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers: Randall (Jeanette) Pope of Jonesboro; Terry (Becky) Pope of Tunica, Ms. He was preceded in death by his parents: John Lee and Geneva Pope; his son: Michael Denny Pope; a granddaughter: Jennifer Pope; Brother: Wayne Pope. Grandsons are honored to be serving as pallbearers: Bryan Pope, Kevin Pope, Eric Pope, Zack Pope, Joshua Hurd, Jonathan Hurd, Tyler RoachGraveside services will be Sunday, December 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Cemetery, Bono, Ar. With Pastor Craig Lee officiating, under the direction of Faith Funeral Service, Manila, Arkansas.

    I saw a memorial to Bob in the Sun today. I did not know he had passed. I have fond memories of Bob at the Jonesboro Grocer Company. Sorry to hear of his passing. Praying for peace and comfort for Sunshine and family.
