Orville Gene Groves

Mr. Orville Gene Groves, age 78 of Rector, Arkansas, passed away on December 7, 2016 at his home. Born September 14, 1938 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Ed and Laura Sutton Groves and was of the Baptist faith. Gene, otherwise known as a “Drifter” was one of few men left in the Boydsville community to talk on his CB nightly. He always enjoyed catching up with everyone at the end of the day to talk weather or everyone’s daily adventurers. Mr. Groves proudly served our country in the United States Marines and he loved spending time with his son and grandsons at the 40 to hunt fish or drive his Kabota and stop to pose for pictures on the game camera.He is survived by his wife: Diane Groves of the home; one son: Mike Groves and wife Erin of Rector, Arkansas; one brother: Cecil Groves and Irene of Kingman, Arizona; two sisters: Marie Reed and Lavern of Corning, Arkansas and Lucy Ellis of Rector, Arkansas; two grandchildren: Colton and Garrett Groves; one great-grandson on the way; one great-great-grandchild, Jace, to be born in March. Mr. Groves also leaves a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Arlie “Bud” Groves; three sisters: Mildred Davis, Ruby Dale and Opal Wright. Services will be Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at the True Light Baptist Church in McDougal, Arkansas. Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas is in charge of arrangements. Military honors will be performed by the United States Marine Corps at 3:00pm at the church. The family has requested a private disposition. Guest registry at faithfuneralservice.net.

    Gene was a very nice man.He loved children.My dad,Fred Wyatt likes Gene.They used to talk on CB radios and play Rook cards years ago. Gene has a nice wife,Diane I'm sorry Diane for your loss loved husband.
