Sonya Marie Jones

Sonya Marie Jones, 52, of West Memphis, Arkansas passed away at her home on December 16, 2023. She was born on August 24, 1971 in Memphis, Tennessee to Junior and Rosa Newton. Sonya was a people person, everyone she met loved her and she was an adopted mom to many. She could light up a dark room. She loved the Dallas Cowboys, spending time with her grandchildren, and her family. Survivors include; her mother: Rosa Newton of Marion, Arkansas; two sons: Christopher Newton of Marion, Arkansas and Joseph Hawthorne of Marion, Arkansas; one daughter: Ashley Hawthorne of Marion, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren: Camden, Caden, Maylee, Blaize, Maddox, Mikey, Marshall, Mavella, Kyrie, Keyvion, Kay’Lahni, Sky’Lah; three sisters: Monica Poyner (Danny) of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Teresa Newton of Wynne, Arkansas, and Janet Manes of Flordia; two brothers: Donnie Brewer of Marion, Arkansas and Marlowe Newton of Marion, Arkansas; seven nieces and nephews: Emma, Kayla, Dalton, Dustin, Leah, Brittnay, and Bubba; many adopted children; and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded in death by; her father: Junior Aaron Newton; one brother: Steven Pigg; two nieces: Anna Patterson and Brittany Newton; and her best friend: Brenda Richards. The family has requested private arrangements under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.
