Keith D. Sneed
June 10, 1963 - June 27, 2023

Surrounded by his loving family, Keith D. Sneed, 60, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at his home in Caraway, AR. Keith was born in Lepanto, AR, on June 10, 1963, son of the late Jerry (Nancy) Sneed and JoAnn Mounce. On his 5th birthday, God granted Keith a miracle at St. Jude. He had his left eye removed after a rhabdomyosarcoma cancer diagnosis. He was one of the first patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with a medical record number of just over 1000. He endured the cobalt radiation and chemo protocol that so many patients have benefited from to date. He still participated in St. Jude LIFE studies every few years. Keith was an avid outdoorsman, obsessed with bowhunting from a young age in Mississippi and continuing into his adult years in Arkansas. He enjoyed hunting most all species except the elusive tom turkey. He would tell you he hated turkey hunting. He was always chasing the big buck at White River. He would prep year ‘round to be the best at his craft. Summers were spent practicing his shooting, fine tuning his bow, and getting in physical shape for the upcoming archery season. He enjoyed camping with his wife, nephews, family, and friends on Sylamore Creek near Allison, AR. He loved fishing for trout on White River, trotlining for catfish in the muddy waters, and catching easy crappie in recent years. Keith always had a bountiful summer garden he was eager to share with neighbors, family, and friends. He had a knack for cooking, especially smoking all kinds of meat several times a year to clear out the freezers for the upcoming hunting season. Boiling crawfish in April for Jerry’s birthday was his favorite. Keith was passionate about weather. Often monitoring three or more weather apps on his phone, he would keep friends and family in the know on all things weather and river stages. Keith was a simple man who loved NASCAR, the good ol’ country and rock music, and worked hard for his family. He loved genuinely and was a friend for life. He will be dearly missed by his caring wife of 24 years, Spring Sneed of the home; daughter, Jacey Sneed of Black Oak; his “Nancy Jean”, Nancy Sneed of West Monroe, LA; mother, JoAnn Mounce of Jonesboro; sister, Heather “Nikki” Hooker (Heath) of Jonesboro; brother-in-law, Sonny (Becky) Collins; sister-in-law, Summer Collins; mother-in-law, Dian Collins; father-in-law, Donny (Cooky) Collins; three admiring nephews: Lawson Beck; Drake and Luke Collins; 2 beautiful nieces: Sydney and Kathryn Wildy; 3 grandsons: Bentley Sneed; Cole and Easton Utley; extended family and many dear friends who he and Spring are indebted to for the kindness shared over the last 6 months. Keith faced the hardest season of his life when his dad passed away May 25, 2022. Keith and Jerry were inseparable and learned many lessons from each other, spending countless hours together hunting and fishing over the last five decades. Keith was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charlie Wyman and Velma Artie Austin Mangrum and paternal grandparents, Jake and Ruth Haney Sneed. A celebration of Keith’s life will be held Saturday, July 15th at 11 am at Caraway Methodist Church with Mr. David Inman officiating. In lieu of flowers and to make a life-changing donation in Keith’s memory, please consider helping a fellow cancer survivor purchase wagons for St. Jude children who have outgrown the red wagons provided by the hospital. Checks can be mailed to: Jacy’s Wagons c/o Jennifer & Jacy Raburn, 815 Matrose Carrolls Rd, Michie, TN 38357. They can be found on Facebook: Jacy’s Wagons. Donations can also be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html.
