Charles Edward Whitney, 97 of Lake City, Arkansas of Lake City, Arkansas passed away on June 9, 2021 at his home. He was born on March 6, 1924 in Dixie, Arkansas to William Bura and Bertha Boling Whitney. He was of Baptist faith, served his country in the United States Navy. He was an avid hunter (especially ducks), enjoyed fishing, and was a sports fan. Survivors include; his wife of 74 years and six months: Mimah Leon Willcockson Whitney of the home; one daughter; Dana Jane Whitney Hooten (Larry) of Paragould, Arkansas; one grandchild: Mica Lea Markum Gibson of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two great-grandchildren: Levi Whitney Gibson of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Emily Grace Gibson (Spencer Morris) of Brookland, Arkansas; two great-great-grandchildren: Paisley Rue Gibson of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Gracelyn Morris of Brookland; one daughter-in-law: Jan Framer Whitney; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: W. B. and Bertha Whitney; one son: Mel Allen Whitney; two brothers: Hubert and Herbert Whitney; two sisters: Dorothy Whitney Hampton and Margie Whitney Eason. Pallbearers: Sammy McDaniel, Danny McDaniel, Levi Gibson, Patrick Farley, Mark Kingston, and Lynn Price. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 1256 Craighead 995, Paragould, Arkansas with Pastor Kevin Edgar officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
