Harold Joseph Willett
January 10, 1943 - June 28, 2020

Harold Joseph Willett of Jonesboro, AR, passed away June 28, 2020 at the age of 77. He was born January 10, 1943 to the late Joseph C. and Rosa (Freppon) Willett. He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Lois, whom he married fifty years ago. Together they raised her two youngest children as his own, Connie & Anita. He is survived by Connie (Aubrey) Antilley of Jonesboro, Anita French of Atlanta, GA, and Karen French of Jonesboro (stepson Ken is deceased). Harold had eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Harold was known for his mechanical genius, love of photography, sharp common sense, sense of humor (we called them “Papaw Harold jokes”), his guileless spirit, and a deep love of music – Elvis, George Jones, and Creedance Clearwater Revival, to name a few. He had a passion for God, fixing cars, sweet desserts, and helping people whenever he could. He loved his family, which included four siblings, sisters Rose Marie O’Neill and husband Jerry (both deceased), Sister Elaine Willett, Holy Angels Convent in Jonesboro, brothers Paul Willett (Pat) of McKinney, TX, and George Willett (Faye) of Raeford, NC. He loved his many nieces and nephews, cousins, brother-in-laws and sisters-in-law. His final weeks were spent at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City, AR. Harold attended an automotive repair trade school and became a much sought-after Chevy mechanic in his younger days. He enlisted in the National Guard and was a dedicated service member. He retired from Otis Elevator after many years. Born and raised in Jonesboro, he also lived in Dallas, TX, Nashville, TN, Daytona Beach, FL, Galveston, TX, Houston, TX and San Francisco, CA. After retirement, they settled in Jonesboro. He and Lois had several rental properties and their tenants considered them to be the best. Graveside service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 2 PM at Pine Log Cemetery, Brookland, Arkansas. Father Francis Madanu will be officiating. Due to Covid-19 guidelines, face masks are required, social distancing will be observed, and the signing of a Covid information form will be required.
