Steven "Stevie" Taylor

Steven “Stevie” Dewey Taylor, 58, departed this life Monday, September 1, 2014. He was born in Monette, Arkansas on November 8, 1955 to Lewis Raymond “Hawk” and Pat Taylor. Stevie, as he was known by his family and friends, graduated from Monette High School and Arkansas State University. While in Jr. High he was winner of the Craighead County Spelling Bee and runner-up the next year. He loved sports and was an outstanding basketball and baseball player at Monette High School. Stevie loved the St. Louis Cardinals as did his late dad. He was also an avid Razorback fan. His friends always marveled at his ability for remembering statistics, numbers and facts. He had a fun loving personality and loved everyone, both young and old. Survivors include; by his Mother: Pat Taylor, of Monette, Arkansas; one brother: Lewis Taylor of Denver, Colorado; two half sisters: Donna Williams of Paragould, Arkansas and Norma Zimmerman of Clinton, Michigan; one half brother: Jerry Taylor of Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by; his father: Lewis Raymond "Hawk" Taylor; one half brother: Claron Taylor. Visitation will be at the Monette Methodist Church Thursday, September 4, from 5:00 - 6:00 pm with a celebration of Stevie's life immediately following visitation under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to the Monette Methodist Church.
