Glenda Faye Wheaton

Mrs. Glenda Faye Wheaton, age 75 of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at her home. Born October 27, 1938 in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Agustus Linual and Jewell Josephine Thompson Beard and had been a longtime area resident. Mrs. Wheaton and her late husband owned and operated Newman Well Drilling Company where she served as bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of the Craighead County Extension Homemakers where she read the devotional for 40 years and was a member of the NEA Cancer Support Sisters for 8 years. Mrs. Wheaton enjoyed traveling, car races, spending time with her family and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by two daughters: Vanessa Bryant and husband Martin of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Jewell Wheaton also of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one brother: Archie Beard and wife Glenda of Brownsville, Tennessee; two grandsons: Kyle Wheaton Bryant and wife Symanthia Nicole of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Dusty Cagle of Leachville, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren: Gavin Wheaton Bryant and Aiden Nathanial Bryant both of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Luke Edward Henry of Germantown, Tennessee. Mrs. Wheaton also leaves several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Orville Newman Wheaton and one brother, Dwight Roger Beard. Memorial services will be Thursday September 18, 2014 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The family has requested a private disposition under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas.
