Dora Mae Hawes
April 27, 1947 - January 18, 2023

Dora Mae Hawes, 75, fell asleep in death Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 at her home in Harrisburg, Arkansas. She was born to Cleatus and Lona Roberts Swindle on April 27, 1947. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Ann (Tony) Barrett, Harrisburg, one grandson, Marc (Melanie) Barrett, Paragould, 2 great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Kaden Barrett. As well as, several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Cleatus and Lona Roberts Swindle, her husband; Alfred Gobel Hawes, her son; Brian Keith Hawes, 3 brothers; Leroy Green, Jim Swindle and Raymond Swindle, and her sister Louise Beard. Dora was a home-maker and care-giver to her husband for several years, until his death in March 2021. They were married for more than 59 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, music, playing card and board games. She especially loved spending time with her great-grandchildren. Dora was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She dedicated herself and was baptized April 9th, 1983. Her faith was in her God, Jehovah and the promises he made, in the Bible, of a coming new world with Jesus Christ as its King. Her faith in the promise of a restoration of life, gave her peace and comfort. Dora looked forward to the time when God’s will would be done here on earth as it is in heaven, (Matthew 6:10) a time when there would be no more sickness, pain or death. (Rev 21:3,4) These things she knew and believed as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She desired all to know and understand them too. Memorial services will be held on February 4th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall, 5618 Summer Place, Jonesboro, Arkansas with Kelvin Laffoon of the West-Jonesboro congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, presiding.

That’s beautiful obituary tribute . Those words evoked visions from many of the videos that The Faithful and Discreet Soave Class has made available to us. I can’t wait to get to welcome Sis Hawes and give her a hug.
