I remember talking about American history with my uncle. I had first hand access to the last 100 years of America. We talked about presence of the Lord in our lives and I always prayed with him before we got off the phone. I would tell people at work what he did and how old he was. Age did not define or dictate his life. He was full throttle "til the end! See you soon!

I first met Harold after he moved to Moontown airport. He was my airplane mechanic for many years. My husband, Mom and I would love going by for a visit with Harold. He was super smart, mind sharp and the best mechanic. He could really track down parts for our airplane. I always said I would stay with Harold until the day he passed away. I will miss them both. My name is Ruth and he loved it when I asked how Ruth was doing. He would go by at lunch and check on her and eat with her every day. His mind was very sharp. He was such a nice man. His service in the military is awesome and his stories too.

Dear Scott, Dian, Melissa, and families, There's so much, so many wonderful memories of times with your parents, I could write a book remembering them. Even then, I couldn't remember everything, because there were so many delightful times! As you know, Harold and my husband Bob met through aviation, their shared passion, and had already known each other some years before Bob and I married in 1971. Bob and Harold were best friends for decades and worked together on airplanes at "the old airport," Lacey's Spring airport, Winchester Airport, Hazel Green Airport, Moontown, and others. In fact, it was thanks to your Dad that Bob got his A&P and IA certifications. I'm grateful I got the gift of knowing your Mom and Dad because of marrying Bob, and that we shared the Oshkosh experience and so much else with them. Your Dad was one of the most savvy, intelligent people I've ever known, practical and wise, with encyclopedic knowledge, not only of aviation, and a wonderful sense of humor. I enjoyed every moment I got to spend with him and your mother, whose sweetness, kindness, and gentle spirit I will always treasure. I don't know anyone else like her. I'm so sorry to have lost them both, so close together. But then, I imagine Harold and Bob hangar flying among the stars, and Ruth by Harold's side. I smile then, and miss them all a little less.
