Lawrence Woody Ashlock, Jr
March 17, 1932 - June 13, 2021

Lawrence Woody Ashlock, Jr. 89 of Marked Tree, Arkansas passed away on June 13, 2021 at the NEA Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Lawrence was born on March 17, 1932 in Lepanto, Arkansas to Lawrence Woody Ashlock, Sr and Maxie Marie (Harris) Ashlock. He was married to his high school sweetheart Glenda (Clark) Ashlock. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree where he was Deacon for over 50 years. Lawrence served his country in the United States Army and the Arkansas National Guard for a total of 38 years. He was often referred to as TOP by many, and attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major (CSM) while serving in the Troop Command unit in Little Rock, Ar. Lawrence served as Mayor of Marked Tree for 18 years and many civic organizations. He was a member and past President of Marked Tree Rotary club and a member of the American Legion Post 29, Lepanto, Arkansas. Lawrence enjoyed woodworking, building additions to his property and landscaping his property including his backyard waterfall. Survivors include: his Daughter Lynn Ashlock Lovell(Buddy)of Marked Tree: two sisters: Patsy Ashlock Hurt of Memphis, Tn and Linda Ashlock Malone(Ronnie)of Marked Tree, Arkansas: Nephew: Larry Rollins(Sharon) of Springdale, Arkansas: and a host of other family and friends. Lawrence was preceded in death by his life and joy grandson Don Lovell and served as Don's PaPaw: his wife of 67 years Glenda: his parents Lawrence and Maxie Ashlock: two brothers: Harris Ray Ashlock and Jerry Ashlock: one sister: Barbara Ashlock Canada. The family will have a private memorial service under the direction of Faith Funeral Service with Reverend Zack Davis officiating. The service being held around Lawrence's waterfall in the backyard of his home for the past 64 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to First Baptist Church, P O Box 623 Marked Tree, AR 72365 be considered.
