August 19, 1941 - March 22, 2021

Alfred Gobel Hawes, 79 of Harrisburg, Arkansas passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at his home. He was born August 19, 1941 in Harrisburg, Arkansas to Alvie Lee and Lillian Idella Morris Hawes. Mr. Hawes was a professional mechanic for many years. He had a keen ability in mechanical technology, he figured out ways to make things work. He was generous with his time, knowledge and understanding. He loved helping anyone needing assistance, for as long as he was physically able. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His faith was in God, Jesus Christ and in the coming New World, with Jesus as its King. His faith in these things gave his peace and comfort. He knew the promises made by Jehovah in His Word the Bible, of a restoration of life, will be a reality; a world with no sickness, pain or death. Gobel looked forward to the time when God’s will would be done here on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10) These things he knew and believed as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He desired all to know and understand them too. Survivors include; his wife: Dora Mae Hawes, of the home; one daughter: Barbara Ann Barrett of Harrisburg, Arkansas; one brother: A.L. Hawes of Memphis, Tennessee; one grandson: Marc Anthony Barrett; one great granddaughter: Kaylee Barrett; one great grandson: Kaden Barrett; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by; his parents: Alvie Lee and Lillian Idella Hawes; one son: Brian Keith Hawes; three brothers: Carl, Elmer and Harlan Hawes. Graveside services will be Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Wilson Cemetery, Old Military Lane, Harrisburg, Arkansas with Kenneth Hardin, of the East-Jonesboro Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating, under the direction of Faith Funeral Service, Manila, Arkansas.
