Elizabeth Stewart Stone
June 2, 1928 - November 1, 2020

Elizabeth Stewart Stone, first born of Joseph Frank and Robert Rebecca Nix Stewart, was born June 2, 1928 in Sailes, Louisiana. She departed this earthly life at the age of 92 years, 4 months, and 30 days. After leaving Sailes at a young age, the family moved to Madison Parish. Betty graduated high school in Tallulah, and began her college education at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. It was at Louisiana Tech University where she met her husband, Malcolm Clay Stone. They were married on August 7, 1946, and their journey began. Betty chose the field of education as her prime focus during her college years. She began teaching at Transylvania High School, moving on to Tallulah High School, Tallulah Elementary School, and finally Tallulah Academy. She served as teacher, librarian, counselor, and assistant principal during her 40 year teaching career. She completed her bachelor's degree, master's degree and 30 plus in the field of education. Betty always made it a point to let her students know that each one of them was special to her, that she cared for them, loved them, and wanted the best for them. She is preceded in death by her parents (Frank and Bobbie Stewart), her husband (Malcolm Clay Stone), and her sister (Kay Frances Clay). She leaves behind her loving children Robert Stewart Stone (Lynn) and Stephanie Kay Stone Gillentine (Voy), grandchildren Stoney Stone (Hillary), Stewart Gillentine (Jessica), Cole Gillentine (Shelby), Clay Gillentine (Hannah), Cody Gillentine (Emily), Allison Nitz (Jeff), Amy Womack (Brian), Emily Rekop (Chris), great grandchildren Jude Stone, Nash Stone, Lyric Gillentine, Grace Gillentine, Cooper Gillentine, cousins Ernestine Wixson and Jane Slater, nieces Becky Eakins , Karen Clay, and a host of other family members. Due to Covid 19 guidelines, a mask or other facial covering is required, a Covid 19 acknowledgement form is required to be signed, and social distancing will be observed.
