George Warren McIlrath, Jr.
January 12, 1945 - August 15, 2020

George Warren McIlrath, Jr., 75, of Bono, Arkansas went home to Jesus on Saturday, August 15, 2020. He was born on January 12, 1945 in Staten Island, New York and lived most of his life in Waterloo, Iowa. George served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1967 in the 768th Radar Squadron and was honorably discharged, he was a retired City Mail Carrier and worked at the Waterloo Post Office for thirty-three years. He enjoyed banding hawks, reading, putting together large puzzles, fishing with his brother Terry, cutting fire wood, spending time with his family, looking at photo albums and telling stories about the photos, antique and flea market trips, and many other things. He was preceded in death by; his father: George Warren McIlrath, Sr.; his mother: Ruth Winters Woods; and one stepbrother: Don Woods. He is survived by; his wife of thirty-three years: Gail Rothe McIlrath of the home; four children: Che McIlrath of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Heather (John) Stocks of Waterloo, Iowa, Justin McIlrath of Dike, Iowa, and Ashley McIlrath of Seattle, Washington; two stepdaughters: Jamie Campbell of Fort Dodge, Iowa and Holly (Enoch) Bible of Weiner, Arkansas; three siblings: Terry (Jen) McIlrath of Cocoa Beach, Florida, David (Kathy) McIlrath of West Branch, Louisiana, Debbie (Greg) Lasiowski of Burlington, Illinois; one stepbrother: Tony (Pam) Woods of Iowa City, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren: Mikayla, Corbin, Kee Lee, Zane, Keira, Ashtin, Alayna, Kayley and Gage McIlrath, Cody and Amanda Campbell, Cory Thran and Eric Dawson; seven great-grandchildren: Zack, Kyle, and Hunter Campbell, Izabell Hilmer and Finn Dawson; stepmother: Donna McIlrath of DeKalb, Illinois; one nephew: Randy McIlrath of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one cousin: Janet Rosenberg of Lee, Illinois; and a host of other family and friends. A Celebration of George’s life will be next Spring in Waterloo, Iowa. We will miss him dearly. Memorials may be made to the family.
