Veon Roy Martin

Veon Roy Martin, 83 of Caraway, Arkansas, passed away at his home, Friday, May 22, 2020. He was born May 15, 1937 in Milligan Ridge, Arkansas to Raymond and Opal Mosey Martin. He had just been saved and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Caraway, Arkansas. He was a retired mechanic. He worked for American Greetings for thirty-eight years, and a retired fire fighter for the Caraway Volunteer Fire Department. He loved woodworking and built everything from his own house, bird houses, and picnic tables. He was a much loved and respected member of his community. Survivors include; one daughter: Janet Martin-Snelling (Gordon) of Caraway, Arkansas; two brothers: Paul Martin of Caraway, Arkansas and Bobby Martin of Leachville, Arkansas; one sister: Mildred Sellers (Jim) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two grandchildren: Nathaniel Martin Turner of Caraway, Arkansas and Bradley Cole Turner of New Jersey; two great grandchildren: Bradley Turner and Shaylee Turner, both of New Jersey; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by; his wife: Shirley Ann Simpson Martin; parents: Raymond and Opal Martin; one brother: Carl Martin of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two sisters: Patricia Humes of Caraway, Arkansas and Annie Weeks of Leachville, Arkansas. Graveside service will be Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Caraway Cemetery, Caraway, Arkansas with Bro. Rick Stevens officiating under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 am until time for service. Pallbearers: Nathan Turner, Brad Turner, Bradley Turner, Terry Couch, Paul Martin, Asa Boatman. Honorary Pallbearers: Bobby Martin, Kenny Martin, Jeff Martin, Gordon Snelling, Robert Adcock, Ronnie Williams, Jerry Dunkerson, Ed Bates, Barry Riley. Out of an abundance caution for others and in compliance with current safety guidelines, a mask, or other facial covering is required, along with social distancing.
