Leslie Dean Langley
April 29, 1934 - October 23, 2019

Leslie Dean Langley, of Jonesboro Arkansas, quietly fell asleep in death surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. Les was born on April 29, 1934 in Lebo, Kansas to Duard and Stella Langley who, along with his brother Lee Langley of Kansas City, Missouri and sister Grace (Langley) Powell of Emporia, Kansas, preceded Les in death. Les met the love of his life and they were united in marriage in 1954. Les and Pat began a rich and long spiritual journey together that filled their lives with lots of friends, family, love and experience. Motivated by a deep love for Jehovah and for people, Les and Pat entered into the full time ministry in 1962 and continued that self sacrificing lifestyle for 57 years. He traveled throughout the United States teaching and assisting congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He and Pat were privileged to aid over 50 persons to become dedicated Witnesses of Jehovah. During these experiences, Les found many different ways to embody kindness. In 1998, due to health issues and an aging parent, Les and Pat settled in Jonesboro. This, however, was just a change in circumstance; the zeal and love they had shown while in the traveling ministry continued on as Les was an elder in the Jonesboro congregation. He was privileged to assist in teaching some Pioneer Service Schools and act as a substitute circuit overseer. He volunteered in building Kingdom Halls all over the State of Arkansas, including the one here in Jonesboro. Even as his health declined, he continued to ‘rejoice’ in the day Jehovah had made. Les said, he wasn’t sure how it happened but, “I just woke up one day and I was old. I’m not afraid to die but I want to live as long as I can.” Survivors include his wife, Pat, of the home, and a host of nieces and nephews. Even though Les never had biological children of his own, he felt a great love and concern for children and leaves behind many spiritual children and grandchildren that will draw upon their memories of Les and the kindness he showed in all aspects of life. Ecclesiastes 7:1 says, “A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth.” Let us all rejoice in the day Jehovah made and in memory of Les’s good name, holding one another up, till the day Jesus calls Les out and we are once again reunited. The family would like to express a very special Thank you to Elite Home Health Care and Arkansas Home Hospice for the loving care they gave to Les. Memorial service will be Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 2840 S. Caraway Rd., Jonesboro, Arkansas with Rick Milbrandt officiating.
