Glennis Clyde Smart
December 16, 1949 - April 17, 2019

Glennis Clyde Smart, 69, of Swifton, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 in Newport, Arkansas. Glenn was born December 16, 1949 in Newport, Arkansas, the first of ten children born to Clyde Lavaune and Vay Bradley Smart. He was a 1968 graduate of Swifton High School and was stationed in Germany while in the Army. He was a roofer for many years with his brothers under the guidance of their father, Lavaune. He was a mechanic, carpenter, electrician, plumber, doing whatever was needed for family and friends. He had worked as a machinist at Ever Corporation and was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He retired last May as a contract mail truck driver, running a route from Jonesboro, through Walnut Ridge to Swifton. He loved fishing, watching Nascar and listening to The Bob and Tom Show. Survivors include; his wife: Kathy Howard Smart; two sons: Gunner Smart, Josh Adams; two daughters: Cheryll Luper, Roxanne Shumate; seven grandchildren: Zac Combs, Mo Adams, Lucas Luper, Shelby Norris III (Trey), Xavier Shumate, Bella Shumate, Paisley Shumate; two brothers: Melbert and Delbert; three sisters: Kathy, Faye and Janet; special nieces: Stacie, Rachael and Brydgett; his doggies: Bubba, BunBun, BooBoo and a lifetime of friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; one daughter: Cassie Combs; brother: Larry Smart; sister: Joan Mankey; infant siblings: Hazel and Perry; step-father: Sam Crossland. The family has requested a private service under the direction of Faith Funeral Service, Manila, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Swifton Community Center, 106 Main St, Swifton, Arkansas with Bro. Mark Duncan officiating.
